for

Outstanding Young Investigator 2025

Picture
The Stem Cell Society Singapore is pleased to launch this year’s application submission process for the 2025 Dr. Susan Lim Award for Outstanding Young Investigator, supported by the Dr. Susan Lim Endowment for Education and Research. This award recognizes the exceptional achievements of investigators in the early part of their independent careers in stem cell-based research. It emphasizes the numerous and continued contributions of Singapore-based researchers toward understanding the fundamental biology of stem cells and promoting their potential as powerful tools in disease modeling, drug screening, and regenerative medicine.

CRITERIA
  • The nominee must be seven or fewer years from their first full-time assistant professorship or equivalent position in an academic, industrial, or clinical research setting*.
  • The nominee must be an SCSS member in good standing.
  • The nominee must be an independent investigator conducting original research in basic science, clinical development or translation in stem cell research and cell therapy.
  • Two SCSS members in good standing must support all nominations.
  • The nominee must be available to attend the SCSS Symposium 2025, held in person from 12 to 14 November 2025. The awardee will also be invited to the speakers’ Dinner.
  • Awardees will be selected solely at the discretion of the SCSS.

AWARD
The personal award is a cash prize of S$5,000 plus complimentary registration to the SCSS Symposium 2025.
The award recipient will be honoured during a plenary session at the Symposium and will need to deliver a lecture. A SCSS leader or the recipient’s mentor will have the opportunity to make a formal presentation and to reflect on the recipient’s scientific accomplishments.

NOMINATION PROCESS
Two or more members of SCSS must sponsor nominations. Nomination letters may be submitted individually or as a single, co-signed letter. Nomination letter(s) (not more than two A4-pages) should provide the following:
  • a statement of up to 100 words highlighting the most critical accomplishment(s) of the nominee
  • an overview of the nominee’s contributions to the field of stem cell research
  • a statement of the nominee’s status as an independent investigator

A copy of the nominee’s curriculum vitae and a list of up to five of their most relevant publications must accompany the nomination letter. Also include an electronic version of these publications, where possible.
Nominations for the 2025 award are now open, and applications should reach us by 24 October 2025.

For questions and submission of applications, please get in touch with Gerald Udolph at [email protected].

* Assessment of 'equivalent position' is at the discretion of the award selection committee. Comparable titles in the international academic community might include, but are not limited to, Lecturer, Senior Scientist or Team Leader.
