The annual Stem Cell Society Singapore's (SCSS) Symposium 2016 was held in Singapore at Biopolis on 7th and 8th November 2016. The theme was "Modelling Cell Fate & Development", which brought together local and international researchers who share a common interest in stem cells. The SSCS Symposium 2016 focused on basic and translational research to understand and exploit the value of controlling stem cell fates. One of the wonderful aspects about stem cell research is that it is leading to exciting discoveries in basic biology that are then being translated into treatments for diseases. Fundamental to translating basic research on stem cells into clinically viable applications is the ability to control cell fates. By directing stem cells into cell types of interest they can be used to model human diseases, to provide cells for transplantation, and to unearth fundamental concepts in developmental biology. Participants had unique opportunities to learn and discuss the current progress on cell research in Asia and the world, and mingled with professionals and trainees from academic, industrial and clinical communities. SCSS would like to thank all who helped made the symposium a success and we look forward to your participation for future symposiums!

Session topics include:
