Description
 
The Stem Cell Society Singapore (SCSS) announces the Overseas Travel Fellowship Programme 2023 (OTFP23). The objective is to support eligible individuals to attend overseas and stem cell-related conferences in the calendar year 2023. Applications for conferences already attended in 2023 may be submitted as well.

The fellowship will provide support for expenditures related to attending overseas conferences (e.g., costs for traveling and accommodation; daily subsistence costs are not claimable). Candidates will be selected by the Society based on financial need and the scientific merit of the submitted abstract. Funds will be distributed to the successful candidates on a reimbursement basis and upon submission of an itemized invoice accompanied by original receipts.

 
Eligibility Criteria

1. You must be an active Student or Ordinary/Term member of the SCSS in the calendar year 2023.
2. All students presently conducting Ph.D. research in a Singapore-based laboratory are eligible to apply. An explanation of the student’s status, if not enrolled in a local degree-granting program, must accompany the application (e.g., ARAP, AGS(O) 2+2). Early career postdoctoral fellows within 6 years after graduation as a PhD may also apply.
3. You must either present a poster (first author) or deliver an oral presentation at the conference you applied for.
4. You may be asked to submit a short meeting report to the SCSS after your return that may be published on our webpage.
5. We will consider applications from those who have already received partial funding to attend the conference. Such funding will be taken into consideration for determining the final amount awarded by SCSS.

The following documents are required:

1. Cover letter and CV: Provide a letter stating which conference you would like to attend and how your career will benefit from attending this meeting. The letter also needs to clearly explain the financial need for funding.
2. Letter of Support from your Principal Investigator / Supervisor. The letter must state that you are either a Ph.D. student or a postdoc within the first 6 years after obtaining a PhD.D.
3. Abstract. Please attach your abstract that you have already or will submit to the conference you apply to attend.
