My group currently focuses on understanding biology of Mesenchymal Stem Cells through gene expression studies. Using an integrated computational & experimental approach, we have profiled the MSC transcriptome from marrow derived MSC & identified pathways that are critical in MSC survival & differentiation. Currently we are comparing transcriptomes of MSC derived from normal adult marrow & human embryonic stem cells to understand if these cells use similar mechanisms for survival & differentiation.
